GloRilla is gearing up to cap off her remarkable year with the release of her debut album, slated for release next month. The rising star shared this exciting news while walking the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, revealing a sneak peek into the album’s title.

“I’m dropping an album next month, in October,” GloRilla announced to Extra TV. “I’m so excited about that. We gon’ go number one! [The title] starts with a G.”

This forthcoming LP follows her well-received mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang, which dropped in April. The 12-track project boasts an impressive lineup of features, including Moneybagg Yo, Megan Thee Stallion, Kevo Money, Real Boston Richey, and Finesse2Tymes. GloRilla has been steadily climbing the ladder of success, and this debut album is poised to solidify her place in the industry.

Her announcement at the VMAs wasn’t the only highlight of the night. GloRilla also took the stage to perform her hit single “TGIF.” During her performance, she experienced a near wardrobe malfunction when an outfit reveal almost exposed more than intended. Fortunately, one of her quick-thinking backup dancers prevented the mishap from becoming a viral moment. Despite this brief scare, the rest of her performance went flawlessly, showcasing her stage presence and resilience.

This year has been a rollercoaster for GloRilla, full of high points and learning experiences. Earlier in 2023, she responded to critics who doubted her staying power. Taking to social media on September 4, she shared a retweet of a post from October 2023 that claimed she had “fallen off so fast and bad.” GloRilla’s response was nothing short of inspirational. “I remember bookmarking dis & telling myself ‘Dey gotchu fucked up so bad,'” she wrote. “dis post ain’t do shit but put a battery in my back i needed dat. don’t let dese people write yo story for you, Keep going !!!”

GloRilla burst onto the scene in 2022 with her breakout single “FNF,” followed by another hit, “Tomorrow,” which received a significant boost from Cardi B. Despite a perceived dip in momentum in 2023, including criticism over her Fivio Foreign-assisted track “Cha Cha Cha,” GloRilla bounced back with a vengeance in 2024. Singles like “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion have cracked the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, reaffirming her status as a force to be reckoned with. Her track “TGIF” even caught the attention of Rihanna, who slid into Glo’s DMs to express her admiration, humorously inquiring about the album’s release date.

GloRilla’s journey in the industry has been a testament to her resilience and talent. As she prepares to release her debut album in October, starting with a title that begins with the letter ‘G,’ fans are eagerly anticipating what promises to be a defining moment in her career. With a year filled with chart-topping singles, viral moments, and an unwavering determination to prove her critics wrong, GloRilla is undoubtedly on her way to making her mark in music history.
